How to Troubleshoot Amana Ranges

    • 1). Plug the Amana range into a power supply if nothing on the range is operational. Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker if necessary.

    • 2). Press and hold "Lock" for three seconds if none of the control pads on an electric display panel model will work. This releases the "Child Lock" option.

    • 3). Push the control knob in and turn clockwise simultaneously if the control knobs do not seem to be working. Turn the knob to "Light" and wait for the burner to ignite if it is a gas model and the pilot light for the burner does not seem to be igniting. Verify that the correct knob for the corresponding heating element is being used.

    • 4). Avoid using cookware that is more or less than ½ inch in size than the burner if the cooking results are uneven or there is heat exposed around the cookware while the burner is on.

    • 5). Set the clock on the display if the timer or self-cleaning feature will not operate and the time of day is flashing. Press "Clock" and use the number or arrow pads to set the correct time, followed by "Start."

    • 6). Push the oven door closed fully if the "Self Clean" feature will not start. Note that the self-cleaning option will not start if other areas on the range or oven are currently in use or a delay start has been selected. Press "Cancel" and reprogram the oven.

    • 7). Position cookware and racks evenly in the oven if baking results are not as expected. Preheat the oven and refrain from opening the door often, as this changes the temperature inside the oven.

    • 8). Clean burner ports with a straight pin or needle once cool if the flame is not steady or is yellow or noisy. Clean burner elements with warm, soapy water and rinse and dry well before replacing on the stove top.
