I was a smoker before but I managed to quit. It is not hard to quit and you too can quit smoking. When I quit smoking, one of my biggest challenges is to fill in a hole that has been created in my life when I decided to quit smoking. Killing a habit means you need to have a new habit to replace that old habit. When you stop smoking, a hole or a blank spot was created. If you don't find something good enough to fill in the spot, that addictive old habit will find you back and will be part of your life again.

Do you want that to happen? Of course, no. The good thing is that there are many ways to keep your mind occupied with something other than smoking. Why don't you try any of 3 activities below to keep your mind busy?

b) Physical exercise

This is the best way to fill in this blank spot. Isn't it obvious? You don't only exercise your body which can lead to a better health but at the same time, you keep your mind busy, thinking about the exercise you are engaging at that moment. Seriously, thinking about how to move your body parts correctly is tiring enough, let alone thinking about a cigarette. Physical exercise can also reduce stresses and worries which are the major contributors to the nicotine craving. Next time, if you worry about something, why don't you give a shot at tread mill?

b) Spending your free time with your best friend

Spending time with your best friend can greatly ease the nicotine craving. Why don't you tell your friend that you are in a process of quitting and you need him or her to support you whenever you feel want to smoke. Never underestimate the power of the best friend.

c) Engaging in a simple do-it-yourself (DIY) project

By engaging in any DIY project, you'll be surprised at how fast time flies. What you need to do is to find any interesting and exciting small project that you can do in about one week time. Once you have chosen your project of interest, start doing it!!! The good part is you'll be gaining some new skills and experiences while quitting smoking. Once you complete a project, you should look for a new exciting project to keep your mind busy.
