How to Stunt Okra Plants
- 1). Allow the plant to grow to a reasonable height. For many gardeners a chest-high okra plant provides the right size.
- 2). Pinch off the growth tips on the main branches, preventing the okra from growing higher. A pruned okra will grow more side branches, making the ripe fruit harder to reach. Some okra have more spiny branches than other varieties, and this will make harvesting a little more difficult.
- 3). Monitor the plant and continue to pinch off any new growth tips that develop.
