How to Install a Drip Loop in My Dishwasher
- 1). Clear out the space around the dishwasher drain hose. In most cases, this is beneath your kitchen sink.
- 2). Run the dishwasher drain hose to the sewer connection. If you need to cut holes through your cabinet, attach the spade bit to the end of your drill. Make the hole slightly larger than the hose's diameter.
- 3). Trim the drain hose to the proper width with the shears. Most dishwasher drain hoses come with tapered ends, so that they can be trimmed off at a choice of differing widths. This is to accommodate both garbage disposal and dishwasher tailpiece connections. Apply a few drops of dish-washing soap to the inside of the drain hose. Slip the hose clamp over the end of the hose. Slide the drain hose over the appropriate connection. Tighten the hose clamp with the screwdriver.
- 4). Trace back along the hose until you reach the middle. Raise this portion of the hose along the back of the wall or cabinet until this middle point is higher than the drain connection at the end to create the drip loop. Hold the hose on the wall or cabinet at this point with the pipe clamp. Insert the screws into the openings on the clamp and secure to the wall or cabinet.
- 5). Run the dishwasher. Check for proper operation.
