Central Virginia Home & Garden Show
- The Central Virginia Home and Garden Show takes place in mid-winter, often February, at the Greater Richmond Convention Center on 403 N. Third Street in Richmond. The show runs from Thursday through Sunday and is open from late morning to early evening. Adult admission is generally under $10, kids ages 12 to 17 are half-price and children ages 11 and under are free. Seniors also receive a discount admission.
- Exhibitors come from all over the Central Virginia area to display their products, services and specialties. For example, the 2011 Central Virginia Home and Garden Show includes over 60 exhibits. Some outdoor categories include outdoor furniture, waterproofing, decking materials, garage doors, deck builders, brick and stonework, and pools and spas. The indoor exhibit categories include heating and cooling, bath equipment, ceramic tile and marble, draperies and blinds, cookware and appliances. Garden centers, home theaters, aquariums and mortgages are also featured.
- The Green Zone demonstrates the latest green building techniques to make a home environmentally sound in a cost-effective manner. Exhibitors offer ideas for green remodeling or new home construction and how to reduce your utility bills. Exhibitors show products and services ranging from HVAC and solar energy to environmentally friendly items for the home. Discover new ideas for insulation, geothermal and rainwater harvesting as well.
- The Central Virginia Home and Garden Show also hosts the Designs for Living Interior Design Showcase. Richmond area interior designers demonstrate design ideas in furnishings, art, draperies, faux painting and carpeting. Visit the room vignette area, which includes kitchens, bathrooms, family rooms and a nursery. Custom-made furniture and cabinets are also available. Talk to a color consultant or an organization expert, and leave the show with unlimited new ideas for improving the design of your own home.
- Sometimes featured in conjunction with the Central Virginia Home and Garden Show is the Maymont Flower and Garden Show. Offering tips and techniques for gardens, exhibits feature garden displays, flowers, horticulture and green applications. See the bouquet of the day display, and attend a seminar taught by recognized speakers. Topics include creative garden design, plant selection and teaching green gardening to kids. Vendors sell books, plants, artwork and gardening tools.
