I once heard a friend mention that she had "sweet blood" and that mosquitoes always seemed to go after her, but not her husband.
I didn't really give this comment a second thought until I was out gardening one evening, and a swarm of mosquitoes attacked me, leaving me with red itchy bumps all over, and in particular, on my face and neck.
With the worries of West Nile Virus on my mind, I began wondering how I would be able to garden like I always do without being eaten alive and contracting the terrible illness.
I don't particularly like using bug spray because I'm very sensitive to sprays and scents, and it really bothers me to spray anything on.
This posed quite the predicament for me, because if I wanted to garden in the evening, I would have to face the terrible mosquitoes that seemed to always be around.
As I sat gardening one evening, being eaten alive, I decided that I didn't want to deal with the problem any more.
I didn't want those blood suckers bugging me (pardon the pun), so I decided to do some research.
As I looked online, I found a particularly interesting product that appeared to be the solution to my pesky mosquito problem.
What I found was a hat that looked like any ordinary hat, with one difference.
On the top of this hat, there is a zippered pocket.
Upon opening that pocket, inside there is netting that can be drawn down over the face, and it covers the face and neck, providing protection from flying pests - mosquitoes, in particular.
This mosquito hat seemed to be the solution to my problem.
I ordered one immediately, and have since been able to garden in the evening without having mosquitoes bite my neck, face, or anything else for that matter.
(Note: I do wear long sleeved shirts and long pants to provide protection to my sensitive appendages.
) I'm happy that as long as summer continues to be warm and humid for me, I can still garden with my hat that has saved me from those pesky pests.
