DENVER -- The Mile High City continued to rebound in 2013 as unemployment in Denver dropped to 7% from 8.2% the prior year.The population of the Mile High City grew to 649,645 residents in 2013 from 634,265 residents in 2013. Statistics are based on 2013 data from the City and County of Denver's annual report.

"With over 16,000 new jobs and 1,000 businesses created in the past two and a half years, we are growing an economy that is built to last," said Mayor Michael Hancock in the the report.


"In conjunction with our public and private industry partners, we are investing billions to build a regional commuter rail line and a new transportation hub downtown."
