How to Replace Gaskets on Bosch Washers
- 1). Unplug the Bosch power cord from the electrical outlet. Pull the washing machine away from the wall so that you can access the back of the machine. Remove the screws holding the top of the machine to the frame, using a Torx driver. Push the top of the machine forward and lift it off.
- 2). Remove the soap dispenser from the machine by depressing the clip and pulling it out. Remove the screws retaining the control to the machine using a Torx driver. There is one screw on the right at the soap dispenser, and there are three screws on the left. Lift the control off the machine and place it on top. Do not disconnect the wiring harness.
- 3). Remove the kick plate from the bottom of the Bosch washing machine by unsnapping it and pulling it off. Pull the small drain hose away from the kick plate when you take it off. Remove the gasket retaining spring from the machine by inserting a flat-tip screwdriver under it at the top.
- 4). Remove the door seal from around the door opening and push it inside the machine. Remove the four Torx screws from the front panel of the machine. Remove the front panel and set it aside. Remove the old gasket by pulling it off. There is a retaining spring around the perimeter of the gasket where it attaches to the machine. If you have difficulty pulling the gasket from the machine when you remove the front panel, you may have to remove the counter-weight from the washer drum.
- 5). Discard the old gasket but do not throw away the retaining spring. Place the new seal around the perimeter of the door opening, pushing firmly to make it stay in place. Make sure that the three drain holes on the gasket are at the bottom when you install it. Check all around the gasket to ensure that it is securely on the washer.
- 6). Install the retaining spring on the new gasket by working it into the groove at the back of the gasket. Tug lightly on the gasket to be sure the spring is holding it properly. Put the front panel back on the machine and tighten the screws with the Torx driver. Reinstall the kick plate at the bottom of the machine by snapping it into place.
- 7). Place the control panel on the machine and install the retaining screws. Tighten the screws with the Torx driver. Install the soap dispenser on the Bosch washing machine. Place the top on the machine and reinstall the two screws at the back of it using a Torx driver. Push the machine against the wall. Plug the power cord into the electrical outlet.
