DIY Fix: Zipper Comes Apart When Zipped
Have you ever zipped up your zipper, only to find it popping open seconds later? If your zipper comes apart when zipped, this could be caused by a couple of problems. Let's diagnose your zipper and get it fixed up quick.
Broken Teeth - If your zipper teeth are in need of a dentist, you may have to replace the zipper entirely. If the broken teeth are toward the bottom of the zipper, you can fix it by sealing up the tracks before the zipper hits those teeth.
Gunk on the Teeth - You may have some crud all over the teeth of your zipper, keeping the teeth from aligning correctly. Lightly scrub over the teeth with a soapy washcloth. If this doesn't solve it, grease up your zipper by using a graphite pencil (that's most any pencil) to get things moving.
Too Much Pressure - If you've stuffed your purse too full, or stuffed yourself into a too-small dress, the zipper could be under too much stress, causing it to pop open. You could open up the zipper seam and let out the dress with these quick instructions, or try not to over-stuff your zip-up bags.
