Making your own citrus juice at home can be a very exciting thing to do; however, if it is not done in the best way, it can lead to a lot of wastage, of your time, energy, and the fruit.
However, one sure way of making the right juice is following these simple steps.
Step 1 - If you need to make use of the fruit's peel in cooking, then, scraping it off the fruit using a grater is advised.
Be careful when using this grater as it may chop off your fingers, because you can accidentally hurt yourself.
Step 2 - Divide the peeled fruit along its axis, into two.
Ensure that the core runs the length of every cut face.
Step 3 - Place the fruit down on a chopping board and cut its side up Step 4 - Using a parer (make sure it is sharp), cut parallel inside the core at about 45 degrees to the face of the cut on the fruit.
Be careful not to do it across the peel on each of the side's core.
This cutting ensures that you cut through the centre of every tiny capsule, which holds the citrus juice.
Each of it moves to the outer part of the fruit.
Step 4 - Directly squeeze juice over a bowl or any container of your choice.
If the seeds are seen coming out of the fruit, pick them.
Eject the centre part of the fruit together simply.
If you did not cut the central part correctly, eject it and pick it out.
Step 5 - Pick the husks and dispose of them in a good way.
Give them to a herbivore if present.
This method cannot be used with fruits whose small capsules do not contain juice running across the fruits width as the citrus.
Warning Be cautious when using the grater.
Keep it safe and away from children or keep a close attention to them, just in case you find them with it.
This prevents unnecessary injuries that the gadget can cause to them.
Do not use a very sharp or very blunt knife for your safety.
Do not also make a mistake of holding the fruit in your hands while cutting it.
Avoid using a sharp knife with the sharp point end directly facing you.
Remember, a citrus fruit is a dense fruit thus it is likely that during cutting, it cannot resist the knife.
So applying more energy may cause an injury to your hand.
