How to Wash Linens in Vinegar
- 1). Pour one cup of plain white vinegar into your washing machine. Add hot water and your normal laundry detergent.
- 2). Place the linens in the washer and let them soak for 20 minutes before going through the wash cycle.
- 3). Remove the linens from the washer promptly and dry them using a scented fabric softening sheet.
- 4). Hang the linens outside all day on a sunny day. Hang them so that they can receive good ventilation. The previous steps should remove odors, but this last step works to provide extra freshness.
- 1). Fill a large basin with hot water, two cups of white vinegar and one cup of lemon juice.
- 2). Place the linen item in the mixture and swish it around with your hands so that it becomes saturated.
- 3). Allow the linen to soak in the mixture for 20 minutes.
- 4). Wring the excess water out of the fabric and hang it outside to dry. Leave the linens in bright sunlight outside for at least eight to 10 hours.
- 5). Bring the linens in and wash and dry them as you normally would.
