    • 1). Assess your strengths and weaknesses. These will influence the types of trading to which you will be most suited. For example, people with quick reactions who can make decisions without delay may be best suited to short-term trading techniques, such as scalping. People who are more analytical may be better suited to complex products, such as derivatives that can be bought and held for some time.

    • 2). Research the different types of financial product traded on CME. Generally, a trading firm will specialize in particular types of product.

    • 3). Find member firms that specialize in the type of trades to which you are best suited. Apply for entry-level jobs with the firms if you are willing to work your way up the ladder and before becoming a trader. This may allow you more options in your career.

    • 4). Take a specialist graduate training program related to trading if you would prefer direct entry as a trader. Look for programs with strong industry support and links and with practical, as well as theoretical, training.
