Industrial engineering refers to the analysis, modification and implementation of processes and systems related to materials. Like engineering as a whole, industrial engineering spans a wide breadth of fields including production systems management, transportation and information technology. Each year, U.S. News and World Report magazine ranks the nation's top university level programs in the discipline. - The Georgia Institute of Technology H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering is the largest industrial engineering school in the United States. The institution offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level academic programs. Georgia' Tech's undergraduate program offers instruction in the basics of engineering in concert with a standard collegiate liberal arts program. Nearly one dozen Master's level degree paths are offered spanning the entire realm of the discipline including operations research, science and health disciplines and computational science. The Stewart School also offers a plethora of doctoral degree programs, ranging in focus from economic decision analysis to bioinformatics and human integrated systems.
