Sweet & Sour Hawaiian Chicken With Savory Garlic Asparagus

For all you Zone diet lovers out there, it's no wonder that you're looking for new and exciting meals to make at home, here's a dish you'll definitely want to add to your flavorful collection.
It's the Sweet & Sour Hawaiian Chicken with Savory Garlic Asparagus recipe and it is oh so yummy.
Don't let the long name scare you into thinking it's difficult to prepare, this is not only easy to make but the best zone diet recipe ever! Here's how you do it: You'll need these ingredients: 8 oz chicken breast 2 tsp cane sugar ½ cup tomato puree 1 cup fresh diced pineapple or canned in water only (no syrup) ¾ cup maraschino cherries 2 tbsp cornstarch 1 cup chicken broth ¼ cup white vinegar 2 tbsp water 2 tbsp soy sauce 2 cups fresh or canned asparagus 1 tsp minced garlic (2) ¼ tsp extra virgin olive oil 1 tsp slivered almonds low sodium salt Serves 2 people Directions: Cut up raw chicken breast into diced pieces and season if desired (garlic salt and paprika make a great rub).
Then sauté in a non-stick pan for about 5 to 8 minutes or until thoroughly cooked with the olive oil.
The outsides should be completely white with no signs of pink.
In another non-stick skillet, combine the cane sugar, tomato puree, diced pineapple, maraschino cherries, cornstarch, chicken broth, vinegar, water, olive oil and soy sauce til it thickens on a medium heat.
Once the consistency is not too saucy, add the cooked chicken and cover with a lid.
Make sure to place this on low heat for about 10 minutes or until thickened.
While the chicken and sweet and sour sauce is simmering, begin the cooking process for the asparagus.
Cover asparagus with salted water in a saucepan for about 7-10 minutes or until tender on low to medium heat.
Heat up a small fry pan and sauté the minced garlic, then transfer the cooked asparagus to it for about 5 minutes.
Once all dished are complete, place the sweet and sour Hawaiian chicken on the plate next to the savory garlic asparagus and serve warm with the almond slivers on top as garnish and enjoy! Zone block info: 8 proteins, 8 carbohydrates, 8 fats.
On a side note: The Hawaiian sweet and sour chicken is wonderfully delicious the next day.
