At one time or another, almost everyone feels the need to try their hand at interior decorating. If you have been affected with the interior design bug, we have a couple suggestions to get to know your favorite styles a little better. A good beginners step to learning the art of interior design is to find out more about the subject. There are books, magazines, books on tape, forums, and blogs on this topic, just to name a few sources of information. There are many ideas that you can implement with just a little bit of knowledge or training. To get some specific ideas, turn to home decorating magazines. As you read and view materials on interior designing, you will get a better idea of what does and does not work for you. Once you have accrued this knowledge, it is time to undertake your first project. Remember, it is more important that you have the experience than a perfect product on the first try. Especially at first, this field is a process of trial and error, and the more you try, the more you learn!

Improving the Look of Your Home Even Before You Decorate It

It is stated that cleanliness is next to godliness. The goal of interior decorating is to have your home looking as aesthetically pleasing as possible. Now as we all know, life can have a funny way of constantly getting in the way of that goal. It is easy to think about changing the decorations within our home when we want to improve the look of our house. However, some changes in how we keep our houses clean can do just as much. We can improve the look of our home by creating a schedule of all the periodic tasks one needs to do to keep the house clean (such as cleaning blinds, washing bedding, or dusting picture frames). This way, you can spend just a little time each month doing some of these jobs rather than being stuck several times a year doing them all day long. Another time-saving strategy is to make sure the rest of the family is helping you! Not only is it their responsibility, too; having everyone help frees a lot of your time and makes you a lot more fun to be around. One more tip is to use labels wherever it is convenient. Knowing where everything is, or goes, not only keeps things organized longer, it also keeps you from wasting time looking for things.

Decorating with Silk Topiaries

As you decorate with topiaries, make sure there is adequate room for your plants to look well-designed. Remember there are many topiary sizes, shapes, and styles that you can choose from. One design that usually complements office areas involves taller, rounded plants. Since many people do not have the time or ability to make sure their office plants are well watered and have plenty of natural light, silk topiaries are often the best way to go. These trees can also look good in homes and churches. Silk topiaries come in all shapes and sizes, ranging from very small (such as the bonsai plant) to quite largethey can rival the tallest and best Christmas tree! Because topiaries were designed with imagination we recommend you use your imagination in filling the area with fresh greenery.

Creating Attractive Wreaths

A simple but beautiful way to decorate your porch is to add a wreath to your door. Wreaths vary in many ways: the materials used, the shape chosen, the style emulated. For a simple wreath start with any desired foam ring and silk flowers; these can usually be obtained at a local craft store. Most likely, the stems of your flowers will be too long; trim them so that there is about 1 inch of stem remaining. Insert the flowers one at a time into the foam ring. Strategically place them so that they are close enough to cover up the foam, but not so close that they look bunched or crushed. If you add a bit of glue from a hot glue gun to the base of the flowers before you push them into the ring, your wreath will be less likely to lose or shed pieces. Adding leaves or vines to your wreath works well for extra decoration or for covering up bare spots. Color coordination can be used to match the seasons, or if you like a natural look, any variety of flower colors will work. Once the wreath is completed, hammer in a small nail to the top of the door and string up the wreath.
