How to Connect a Screen to a Satellite Laptop
- 1). Turn off the power to the Toshiba Satellite notebook and disconnect the power adapter.
- 2). Set an external monitor close enough to the notebook so that you can connect the two devices with the VGA cable. Plug the power cord for the external monitor into an empty electrical outlet. Connect the VGA cable to the video port on the monitor and the blue VGA port on the rear of the Satellite laptop. Tighten the thumbscrews for the VGA cable on both devices.
- 3). Turn on the external monitor first and then the Toshiba Satellite.
- 4). Wait for the Toshiba Satellite notebook to boot into Windows, and then press the "Fn" and "F5" keys at the same time until the computer screen displays on the external monitor. You can choose to view the display only on the Satellite notebook, only on the external monitor screen, or on both displays at once by continuing to toggle the displays with the "Fn" and "F5" keys.
