    • SMART Technologies introduced the world's first SMART Board in 1991. This interactive whiteboard is connected to a computer and projector through USB cables. The projector broadcasts the computer's images to the SMART Board, which allows a user to write or draw on it by means of a digital pen. If students have access to computers in the classroom, the SMART Board can be linked to their machines.

    Standards-Correlated Lessons

    • SMART Technologies set up the SMART Exchange system so educators can connect and share lesson plans. One feature of the Exchange system is its Standards-Correlated Lessons. Instructors can choose the state they live in from the drop-down menu, choose a grade and a subject, and receive a list of lessons that meet each state educational standard. When users hit the view button, they receive a bulleted list of educational standards for the state they selected. Next to each bullet point is the opportunity to view a lesson that correlates with that particular standard. Users can freely download any of the lessons, templates or applications that appear.

    SMART Table Lessons

    • The SMART Table is an application that allows instructors to customize lesson plans and download further SMART Table applications and lessons created by other educators. The SMART Table functions as a ready-made but fully customizable lesson plan where users can change the background, questions and images to fit the needs of their classrooms. The SMART Table Toolkit is part of the application package and allows educators to create themed lessons for their students. SMART Technologies releases new Table applications occasionally, which users can download for free from the website. In the past, this has included a collaboration with Scholastic to develop a puppet-themed application that encourages students to work together to retell traditional stories.

    Senteo Lessons

    • The SMART Interactive Response System (Senteo) was designed for instructors in classrooms where each student has a computer. The software allows students to input answers that are immediately transmitted back to the instructor, which is useful when students are playing an educational game like Jeopardy! Jeopardy! can be used as a review lesson or as a way for students to participate in group learning. Jeopardy! is compatible with any subject and can be set up as an individual competition, so a teacher can tally the results and get an idea of where the class stands on a particular subject or subject area; or as a competition where students are divided into three teams and have to work together to come up with an answer.
