How Do I Fix the Lag on a GTA 4 PC?
- 1). Ensure the game is closed and not running in the background. Open the computer's control panel. Select the device manager. Right-click on the graphics card. Select "Search for updates." Install any updates.
- 2). Log on to the Rock Star Games website. Under the help and support section is a link for GTA 4 support. Click on and download any patches offered. When the downloads are complete, install the updates.
- 3). Open up the Start menu. Type "services" into the search bar. In the new search field, search for "Superfetch." Double-click on the resulting pop-up. A menu will appear. Disable Superfetch.
- 4). Open the GTA 4 folder in Program Files. Locate the "LaunchGTAIV" icon. Right-click and create a shortcut on the desktop. Right-click on the shortcut. Open the properties menu. Add "-novblank" after "\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\LaunchGTAIV.exe." This addition will disable V-Sync, which should improve the frame rate of the game.
