What You Need:

How You Make It: Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Beat the egg and water in a small bowl with a whisk.
On a lightly floured surface, unfold pastry and cut into 20 ½-inch strips.
Wrap pastry strips around the frankfurters and press to seal.
Place on a baking sheet.
Brush the pastries with water and egg mixture.
Bake for 15 minutes or until pastries are golden brown.
Remove from baking sheet and let to cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes.
Serve with dipping sauce.
Parmesan Cheese Straws With Olive Tapenade This recipe makes 24 cheese straws that will wow your guests.
The flavors combined within the puff pastry are both savory and delicious.
These appetizers will have your guests believing you picked them up at a gourmet store instead of making them yourself.
What You Need:
  • 2 ounces grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
  • ½ teaspoon crushed dried basil
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 of a 17.
    3-ounce package of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg
  • 1 8-ounce jaw olive tapenade
How To Make It: Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
In a small bowl, combine basil, cheese and garlic powder.
Set this mixture aside.
Roll pastry sheet to a 14 x 12-inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
Cut rectangles in half crosswise to form two 12 x 7-inch rectangles.
In a small bowl, combine egg and 1 tablespoon water.
Brush the pastry rectangles with the egg and water mixture.
Sprinkle cheese mixture over one rectangle.
Top with other rectangle brushed side down.
Using your fingers, firmly press rectangles together, forcing air pockets out, and sealing edges.
Brush top with egg and water mixture.
Using a pastry wheel or knife, cut pastry crosswise into ½-inch strips.
Arrange strips 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.
Holding both ends, twist each strip, pressing ends onto baking sheet to secure.
Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool slightly.
Serve with tapenade for dipping.
