How to Calculate the Remainder

104 2
    • 1). Divide the dividend by the divisor. For example, the dividend is 410 and the divisor is 20. 410 divided by 20 equals 20.5.

    • 2). Multiply the divisor by the whole number part of the product. For the example, 20 is the whole number part of 20.5. So 20 multiplied by 20 equals 400.

    • 3). Subtract that number from the dividend. For the example, 400 subtracted from 410 equals 10. The remainder is 10.
