Negative Advertising

Trashing Other Business Opportunities to Promote Your Own I want to talk today about negative advertising.
When you go out to market and advertise whatever business opportunity you're in, in order to get people to sign up under you, you trash the competition.
I saw a good example today.
It's a website that has a lot of traffic.
I don't know the guy, but he put a big "review" about SFI on his blog making all these negative remarks about the company.
And I sat and took his post apart, piece-by-piece (and he deleted the post of course!) and it was blatantly obvious to a good marketer and to other members of SFI that this guy didn't know what he was talking about.
And what was at the very end of the blog post? 'If you really want to learn how to make money the right way, join me here.
' This kind of negative advertising reeks of bad politicians.
Let's just sling mud and dirt at the other guy because I want you to join me instead.
Now, the program that he's promoting is an affiliate program that I'm also a member of.
And I seriously doubt that they would actually promote negative advertising as one of their marketing techniques, because their program helps you promote and market other opportunities as well.
They help you learn how to promote a primary business, whether it's network marketing, your own business or another affiliate business.
So for this guy to go out and trash SFI and say that his program is better, is ridiculous because the programs aren't anything alike.
And then near the bottom of his post, he actually admits he doesn't like MLM.
Well, right there, if you don't like network marketing companies, don't go out there and blast somebody else's MLM opportunity as being a scam or a pyramid.
Period.
If you don't like it, stay away from it.
Don't even talk about it.
And that's what is so aggravating, because this guy is actually robbing other people of what could be a good opportunity for them.
It was obvious by his post that he did not take the time to actually look into the program.
He calls it 'Behind the Scenes.
' He didn't even open the curtain, let alone go behind it.
So my opinion on his post, he totally blew it.
And people like him that go out use these types of negative advertising and marketing techniques really do a great disservice to the marketing industry and to people who are looking for a new opportunity for themselves.
This is the worst way to go out and market your business.
All you're doing is branding yourself as a bad politician who's going to go slinging mud at the other guy.
You might not like a program or business opportunity, but that doesn't mean it's not going to work for somebody else.
So don't rob other people of what could be a good opportunity for them.
So my opinion of this blogger, he's one of these tire kickers.
Let's just join up, look at a couple of things, maybe stay in it for a day, leave and then trash the company.
If you're going to market yourself, market ethically.
But don't trash another company in the process, especially when you haven't taken the time to really look behind the scenes to see what it's about.
Every opportunity out there is going to be right for some people and not be right for other people.
So just because it didn't work for him - because he didn't want it to - he's done a great disservice to others who may end up really liking the opportunity if they'd not heard his negative advertising.
So be careful how you're marketing! It might come back to bite you in the...
