Sonography Training Programs in RI

Though RI is a small state, students interested in Diagnostic Medical Sonography do have a nice choice between completing a program at a community college or in a hospital setting. Both schools are CAAHEP accredited and offer high quality ultrasound technology training. Students attending the Community College of Rhode Island can earn an Associate degree in general sonography or in one of the sonography specializations. Students choosing the program offered by the Rhode Island Hospital can earn a general certificate. However, the Rhode Island Hospital is converting its ultrasound technology certificate program to a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree program effective January 2015. Since many employers require certification by a recognized organization like ARDMS, all students should pursue the additional credential upon program completion.
