How to Make Beaded Door Dividers
- 1). Use a tape measure to measure the space where you wish to hang beads, writing down the length and width of your door frame. Measure the space at least twice to ensure you have the exact figures.
- 2). Write down your measurements on a piece of paper. Allow 2 inches of clearance between the floor and the bead curtain to prevent damage to the floor.
- 3). Purchase a wooden board to run across the top of your doorway. Your beads will hang from this frame.
- 4). Draw a design for your curtains on paper. Decide if you want many beads hung close together or a few strings placed widely apart. Using your measurements, decide on the number and length of bead strings you require for your space.
- 5). Determine what type of beads will look best in your space. Door beads are usually made from plastic, wood or glass.
- 6). Use the measurements of the individual beads to calculate how many beads are needed to cover one string. Purchase enough beads to complete your entire project.
- 1). Mark your board with a pencil to indicate where you want each bead string.
- 2). Cut fishing line to your desired length. Add an extra 12 inches to each line for knotting and attaching the beaded string.
- 3). Tie a bead to the end of one line. String your beads according to the design you sketched earlier. Tie a knot at the top of the string.
- 4). Use the slack at the top of the string to tie the string to the wooden board. Use a hot glue gun to fix the bead string in your desired location. Trim the string once the glue is completely dry.
- 5). Adhere the beaded strings to both ends of the board and work toward the middle in case you need to adjust the bead string placement.
- 6). Place an eye hook at opposite ends of your wooden board. Measure the distance between the eye hooks on the board. Mark the same distance on the space for your bead curtain and screw hooks to your door frame.
- 7). Hang your beaded door curtain to divide your space.
