Why You Should Work Out

103 1
You're at some point in your life and you're tired.
You're running low on energy, and you're constantly thinking about your next break.
Your lunch break, when you get home and can put your feet up, the weekend, the next holiday weekend which is even longer.
You're not striving and fighting and excelling; rather, you're surviving, trying to get enough sleep, trying to get good quality meals, trying to make it through the work day.
You're slipping through life, discontent, your body and mind and lifestyle not what you had dreamed and hoped for.
What happened? Where along the way did things begin to slide out of your grasp? And more importantly, how to get back on track? The answer is simple.
Work out.
Ha! I hear you snort from here, and I'm down in Miami.
Work out.
A typical answer.
How is going to the gym and agonizing three times a week under a metal bar going to improve things? In fact, I can hear you think, it will probably make things even worse as you lose what little free time you have left, wears you out even further, and lowers you self esteem by making you compete against already fit and strong people who are on top of their game.
Who needs that kind of ego crushing experience? Not you, cowboy.
Well wake up.
You need to hit the gym, and I'm not even kidding.
Your body is imploding, slowly, one day at a time.
Your insulin levels are constantly spiking from that crud you're putting in your body.
Soda, junk food, cheap food, food filled with chemicals and preservatives and growth hormones and anitbiotics.
You're not only growing insulin resistant, but your fat levels are going up, your immune system is growing weak, your cardiovascular system is overloaded, your heart is straining, your liver is getting wrecked, your mind is foggy, your energy levels eroding and your sleep is poor.
You might not notice all this at first, but it accumulates, boy does it, and by the time you're in your mid 40's the invincibility of youth will have been replaced by the panic of mid-life crisis.
So let's fight this trend.
Go to the gym, get an at-home workout, begin to exercise.
Reverse these declines, get strong.
Boost your human growth hormone levels, your testosterone and adrenaline.
Get that old fire back, get pumped.
Begin to oxidize fat as a source of energy instead of endlessly storing it, begin to lower cortisol levels, lower insulin spikes.
Set aside anything with High Fructose Corn Syrup in it, and begin drinking water.
Get a meal plan together, a workout regimen, and boost that energy level.
Get sharp, get ripped, and soon that excess energy and focus will overflow into your work, your social scene, making the quality of your life better, richer, more satisfying.
Look, there's no mystery to this.
There's no big secret that people are keeping from you.
Get healthy and enjoy life, or lose your health and die early.
Be rich and enjoy every day, or drag your way through every moment, constantly craving the next opportunity to sit on the couch and rest, eyes half closed, remote in hand, staring blankly at the TV screen because you don't have the motivation to do anything else.
It's your life, it's your call, but remember: you can take control at any time you like.
