How to Make a Children's Walkie Talkie Set
- 1). Decorate the outside of two 8-ounce paper cups. You can use markers, paints, and glue-on, fun décor pieces. You're only limited by your imagination. Label each cup for the child who will be using it. Make sure you don't get any glue or décor inside the cup.
- 2). Allow any glue or paint to dry four two hours on the cups, then spray them the inside and out with a light shellac sealant. This helps preserve your cups and keep designs and paper from breaking down over time. Allow sealant to dry for an hour or longer, if the specific brand calls for it.
- 3). Poke a tiny hole in the middle of the bottom of your cup with the point of your knife. Make sure the hole is small, so you can stretch it out as needed if thread won't fit through. Repeat this step with the other cup.
- 4). Cut an 8-foot piece of thread and tie one end of it into a knot. Loop the other end through one of the holes in one of your cups, going from the inside and pulling thread out of the bottom until it catches at the knot.
- 5). Pull thread through the other cup from the bottom and knot the other end of thread to hold it securely between the two cups. You should now have two cups connected with your long thread coming out the bottom of each.
