Five Tips for Emails on Cellphones
- With many of the cellphones that are available, you can receive push notifications when you receive email. A push notification is a type of notification that pops up in your email inbox without having to manually check your email. The phone automatically checks your email for you at intervals. If you want to conserve the power in your phone battery, set the push notification settings to a less frequent amount of time. Each time your phone checks for new emails, it uses part of your battery power.
- If you send many emails from your cellphone, it may be in your best interest to set up a signature. With a signature file, all of your emails from the phone will be automatically signed in your name and whatever other information you include, such as phone number or street address. This saves you from having to enter in your name and your contact information at the bottom of every email.
- Depending on the type of phone you have, you may be able to check your email in one of two ways. You could pull up your Internet browser and log in to your email account the same way you would on a computer. You simply need to navigate to the appropriate website and then enter in your login information. The other way that you could access your email is through an application downloaded to your phone. For example, the iPhone has a built in email interface that integrates with most email clients.
- With many smartphones that are on the market, you can access contact information stored in your phone when sending an email. When you enter in a person's contact information into the "Contacts" section of your phone, it will also have a place for that person's email address. When you use a built-in email client, you can often simply choose from a list of contacts when you need the email address. In some email programs, you can start typing a contact's name and they'll give you a list of addresses to choose from.
- Depending on your phone and your email client, you may be able to integrate your email, contacts and calendar with your desktop computer. For example, if you use Outlook Express or Mobile Me, you can integrate the information in your phone with the info on your computer. This way, if you make an appointment or add a contact into your phone, it will automatically be added to your Outlook profile on your computer.
