How to Peel & Mince Ginger Root
- 1). Hold the ginger root in one hand, laying it flat in the palm.
- 2). Hold the spoon so the inside is facing the ginger.
- 3). Scrape away the skin using the inside edges of the spoon. Use a quick, downward motion without pushing too hard on the ginger root. Continue scraping over the entire root until all the skin has been removed.
- 1). Place the ginger root on a cutting board, and trim the edges to create a square or rectangle.
- 2). Cut the root into thin slices. Place the slices close together, stacking them on top of one another.
- 3). Chop the ginger slices into tiny squares with the paring knife. Start at either end of the slices, making small, quick cuts. Move your way across the ginger root slices until you reach the other end and all the slices are minced. Once the ginger root is minced, add it to your recipe.
