By increasing the perceived value of your product, you will longer be in the same league as your competition.
There is no such thing as a true price for an item.
That is something that many entrepreneurs have trouble accepting.
Price is only a perception of value.
If you can create an atmosphere for your product to where you are giving a huge amount of value to the customer, then you will never have to compete on price again.
Customers want to feel unique, smart, special, and popular.
They want to feel like they have something that only they can acquire, or a deal that only they were smart enough to close.
If you can be the person to create that atmosphere, then the customer will hand you the money, not once, but over and over until they no longer need to have a certain "want" fulfilled.
We pay more for bottled water, something that is basically free, than we do for gas (something that took billions of years to develop underground).
Why do we keep paying that? Marketing perception, that's why.
We pay because we have been trained not to trust the water from our cities.
We pay because we want to get smarter, or look like we are affluent.
The reason we pay doesn't really matter, it's the fact that there is a company that is fulfilling our wants for each individual feeling that we may have.
You need to position your product or service around these customer "wants.
" Instead of trying to cut costs to the bone, provide a ton of value to a higher priced item.
Add more personal service, add uniqueness, add a rock-solid guarantee, or make the person feel as if they are getting the deal of a lifetime, because of the value of the bonus items they get with each purchase.
As soon as you change the perception of the value of your product, the closer you are to making huge amounts of money.
