    • 1). Position the mirror on the MDF board and trace the shape. Draw an outline of the desired mosaic border around the mirror. Use a ruler to get straight lines.

    • 2). Cut the shape out of the MDF board with a jigsaw.

    • 3). Using adhesive, attach the mirror to the MDF base in the position traced earlier.

    • 4). Affix the tiles onto the MDF around the mirror with the adhesive, leaving only small gaps between them. Cover the exposed surface of the base around the mirror with the tiles. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours.

    • 5). Mix the grout in the bucket according to the manufacturer's instructions. The texture should resemble cake batter. Spread the grout over the tiles with a grout float or craft sticks. Be sure to get the grout in between all the tiles but try to avoid getting it on top of the mirror itself.

    • 6). Smooth over the mosaic with a damp sponge to clean the grout from the tops of the tiles and mirror. Be sure to do this before the grout dries completely.

    • 7). Allow to dry for at least 24 hours and then regrout any cracks that appear. After the final touch-ups, carefully wipe off all the excess grout again using a damp sponge.

    • 8). Allow to dry for another 24 hours. Sand down any rough edges with sandpaper. If the tiles look hazy from the grout, use a soft cloth dipped in vinegar to clean the tile and mirror.

    • 9). Attach picture-hanging fixtures to the MDF backing and your handmade mosaic mirror is ready for hanging.
