I Love to Eat

Let's face it...
eating is fun! Well at least it is for me.
I don't know, I've always had this relationship with food...
I just don't understand these people who "eat to live".
What's that all about? I just don't understand these people.
But I must admit that I don't always eat what is considered to be healthy.
I love greasy deep fried gooey stuff that can be found at, say, any respectable carnival.
Carnival food...
now that's the ticket! When we visit Knott's Berry Farm here in southern California, I eagerly look for the nearest eatery that serves "funnel cakes".
Funnel cakes are outstanding...
they take what appears to be pancake batter, and they drop this batter into a deep fryer.
It comes out kind of flat and round but looks more like a plate or fries or onion rings since the grease creates crunchy distortions in the batter.
Okay, it looks like a big spider.
They top it with powdered sugar and boysenberry topping...
when you bite into it you can taste the crunch and the slight wetness of the grease, combined with the sugar and the berry topping...
outstanding.
Now that's what I call good eating.
My favorite meal of the day has got to be breakfast.
I love bacon and eggs, hashbrowns, and biscuits and gravy.
The best part about going to Las Vegas is the breakfast buffet! After you've lost a few hundred bucks on the slot machines the night before, nothing could be better than to stuff your face the next morning with an all you can eat breakfast buffet.
I grab my plate and go straight to the good stuff...
forget about about the fruit.
Here's how I load up my plate...
I usually go to the eggs first.
I prefer fried eggs, but most buffets are going to offer scrambled, so I throw a few spoons of scrambled egg on the plate.
I then go to the hashbrowns.
Many times they will have both hashbrowns and a second concoction of potatoes with peppers.
I prefer the crunchy topping of the hashbrowns, so I throw a chunk of that on the plate.
I then go for the bacon and sausage.
I put about half a pound of bacon on the plate, and about six sausage links.
By now the plate is getting pretty full, but if I can manage to get some gravy on that plate without spilling, I then cover the plate with as much gravy as possible.
Sometimes I have to get a separate bowl for the gravy, then later I can pour the gravy onto the rest of the food.
Top it off with a Coke, and there you have it, the perfect breakfast! I'm always on a diet.
Yes I have a gut.
I'm always thinking about my gut.
But you know, life is more than just looking good.
I'm married...
I don't need to impress anyone.
I don't pick on my wife for all of her imperfections do I? A little gut never hurt anyone.
I have been going to the gym, but I'm not into yogurt and wheat germ.
Yes, I can start eating a little more fruits and vegetables, I can start drinking more water than Coke or Pepsi, but give up my culinary lust for grease in all its various forms? Never!
