A simple mistake but one that is important not to make is not learning about the core details of the product they are writing about. When you don't have much knowledge about the product, you'll obviously have a hard time trying to convince the prospect to buy it. The reader will know instantly that you are trying to sell them something you know nothing about. This will obviously hit your conversion rate and bring down your sales. Never forget that you need to know everything there is to know about the product you are selling--the good and the bad. After learning everything you can about the product you'll be able to use your creativity to sell it. When you are sure about your subject it is easier to communicate about it to the prospect and make sure they get the right impression. Don't reveal too much in your copy but you still want to give all of the required details. This can be a fine line to walk, especially if you do not know how to properly balance your copy. The goal of your sales letter is to both educate the potential customer about what you are selling and, at the exact same time, create in him a desperate urge to buy from you. A good way to do this is to write about the many benefits of owning the product so that the potential buyer knows exactly how your product will better his life. Don't go too heavy on specific features or the other details won't really matter when it comes time for the customer to buy. Creating the urge to buy means keep the fluff down while still including the important details that make the product desirable. Many copywriters lose sight of the fact that they are not writing for themselves but are trying to get someone else to buy from them. Focus on the potential customers you want to attract instead and then target your sales copy to them directly.

What could be worse than having a copy that is ridden with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors? Your aim here is to make sales, not break them by sound unprofessional. But all this is easy to prevent because all you have to do is proof-read your copy and make the necessary corrections. You really must take this part very seriously because it can damage your business and sales if your copy reads in an unprofessional way. So just make sure you can read through it several times while checking for different kinds of errors.
