How do I Create Reply Address Labels?

    • 1). Open Microsoft Wordpad by clicking on the Windows "Start" button, then clicking on "Programs" followed by "Accessories" in the Windows menu. Finally, double-click on the Wordpad program itself to open it.

    • 2). Measure the margins along each side of the page of labels. Then click on "File" in the menu options along the top, and select "Page Setup. . ." in the pop-up menu. Enter the page margins to match those that you measured from your page of labels. Then click on the "OK" button to complete re-setting the margins.

    • 3). Type your name and address into Wordpad, and print a test page on a plain piece of paper. Match the test paper to your page of labels to check how the address aligns with the first label. Adjust the type size as needed to ensure that the entire address fits on the label. Add leading spaces as necessary to move the address away from the edge of the label.

    • 4). Measure the length of one label. Create a tab in Wordpad by clicking once on the ruler at the spot in which you'd like the tab to appear. For example, if your label is 3 inches long, click your mouse once on the ruler at the 3-inch mark. The small "L" that appears on the ruler indicates the location of the tab.

    • 5). Click the mouse behind your name on the first line in Wordpad. Press "Tab" to move to the next label and type your name again. Add the same number of leading spaces as you did for the first label to avoid printing on its edge. Follow the same procedure for the other lines of your address.

    • 6). Add another tab one label length from the last, if your page of labels has three labels across it. Follow the procedure for adding your name and address at that tab placement. Repeat if your page of labels has four labels across the top.

    • 7). Space down from your first row of addresses to the top of the next label and copy each of the lines above to form a second row of addresses. Print another test page to compare to your sheet of labels. Adjust the number or size of the rows between the addresses until the second row of addresses matches the second row of labels.

    • 8). Continue adding rows of addresses until the number of rows matches the number of rows on the sheet of labels. Once done, print a final test page to ensure that each of the addresses lines up correctly with the labels all the way down the page. Make any necessary final adjustments to match the two together.

    • 9). Insert your page of labels into your printer, being careful to orient it correctly for your printer. Then click on "File" and "Print" in the top menu options to print your sheet of reply address labels.
