How to Check and Uncheck Selections in iTunes

    • 1). Launch iTunes on your computer.

    • 2). Connect your iPod, iPhone or iPad to a USB port on your computer if you want to sync items on the device.

    • 3). Click "Music" under "Library" or click the name of a playlist under "Playlists" in the left pane of the iTunes window when you want to check or uncheck music selections for playback. You can also click "Podcasts" or "Movies" if you want to check or uncheck those types of files. A list of media files will appear in the main iTunes window.

    • 4). Click a check box next to the name of a selection in the main iTunes window, such as a song or a podcast, to select it. When you click the "Play" button, every selected item will play. Click a checked check box to deselect it. When you click the "Play" button, the deselected item will not play back.

    • 5). Click the icon for your iPod, iPad or iPhone in the left pane of the iTunes window when you want to check and uncheck material for syncing with the device. Click the "Apps" tab and then click the "Sync Apps" check box to select it. Click the check box next to the name of an app in the list under the "Sync Apps" check box to select it and mark it for syncing with your device. Click a checked check box to deselect it, marking it to not sync with your device. When you sync your iPod, iPhone or iPad, any apps on the device will be removed if they are unchecked in iTunes.

    • 6). Click the "Music" tab at the top of the iTunes window and click on check boxes next to the names of albums, songs, artists or playlists to check them or uncheck them, marking them for syncing with your device. Continue with this process by clicking the tabs for "Movies," "TV Shows," "Podcasts" and other items at the top of the iTunes window.
