Juicing to Help Prevent Cancer

Our body needs vitamins and minerals to function at its best.
These nutrients are used to build organ and bone tissue and to regulate our circulatory, digestive, lymphatic, and other systems.
All of this gives us energy and provides defenses against internal and environmental stressors.
Juice is one of the best sources of these nutrients.
Because juices often blend many fruits or vegetables together, they make for an extremely varied and diverse food.
What's more, juice extracted with a quality juicer delivers minerals and vitamins in a form that's easy for our body to use.
One glass of freshly made juice contains hundreds of important enzymes, vitamins, antioxidant compounds, and phytochemicals.
These last compounds, antioxidants and phytochemicals, have taken center stage in recent cancer research.
The antioxidants found in the juice of wheatgrass, green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, and citrus fruits inactivate free radicals in the body, those agents known to act as carcinogens.
Phytochemicals, compounds stored in plant matter, act as antiinflammatory agents and protect cell structure.
Both shield the body from harmful toxins, ranging from heavy metals to cigarette smoke.
Studies done in other parts of the world, from Africa to Asia, have shown a link between diet and cancer.
People with a high intake of fruits and vegetables have much lower rates of the disease.
This includes cancers of the stomach, colon, esophagus, ovaries, prostate, and lungs.
The more fresh produce that is consumed, the greater the protective effect.
The National Cancer Institute recommends five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables each day.
The best produce, that most able to fight cancer and protect us from toxic environmental agents, is both fresh and raw.
Juice made daily with a home juicing machine is the perfect answer to this need.
Another bioagent shown to be extremely effective against cancer is chlorophyl.
Chlorophyl creates an environment that is unfriendly to harmful bacteria and viruses and cleans the lymphatic system of toxins.
Chlorophyl is found in all green vegetables and is especially prevalent in wheatgrass juice.
In fact, wheatgrass juice is 70% chlorophyl, making this food one of the richest sources of this important compound available.
Wheatgrass juice also contains significant amounts of beta-carotene.
Diets rich in beta-carotene have been shown to reduce the risk of cancer by up to 40%.
Another food proven to be an effective anticancer agent is celery juice.
Celery contains compounds known as acetylenics, which halt the growth of tumor cells.
Celery juice is also a source of phonolic acids, which block the action ofprostaglandin, an agent known to promote the growth of cancer cells.
As we can see, "an apple a day" is only the start to a healthy diet and a reduced incidence of cancer.
Fresh juice consumed daily goes a long way to giving you the power to remain cancer free throughout your lifetime.
