Insulate your floor

• 1). Plan your project. Fiberglass insulation comes in pre-cut lengths. Measure your floor and do the calculations. You can also take your measurements to a hardware store and have them do the calculations for you.
  
  
• 2). In the case of a new project, go ahead and install the insulation according to the following steps. If you are installing insulation in an old floor, you must remove the old floor. Next, remove the sub floor. After you have completed the following steps, replace the sub floor.
  
  
• 3). Apply gloves, a face mask and protective goggles.
  
  
• 4). Use fiberglass batts to install the insulation. Start at one end of the room and proceed from there. Use insulation supports to secure the insulation.
  
  
• 5). Once you have covered the largest areas of the room, you will have some awkward smaller areas. Cut out pieces of insulation to fit neatly into these areas.
