    • "Dora the Explorer" is a favorite cartoon character children watch on Nick Jr, a TV channel. Dora is a Hispanic young girl who loves adventure and helping people or animals. This show teaches children counting, colors and vocabulary building in English and Spanish. Dora is an ideal birthday party theme for toddlers. Keep the kids occupied at the party with several Dora-themed party games.

    Puzzle Bridge

    • Create the bridge's rectangular boards from felt. Mix up the colors to make the bridge eye-catching. Use a permanent black marker and write huge numbers, letters and shapes on the felt. Form a long walkway by placing the felt one by one in a row, winding the bridge throughout the room to become a full circle. Gather the children into a single line and explain the game rules. Once the music starts, the kids proceed to walk on the felt boards. When the music stops the host shouts out a number, letter or shape. The child on that spot wins a prize.

    Backpack Song

    • Have the children sit in a circle. Explain that it is time to sing Dora's "Backpack" song. Start the song and finish once. Tell the children Backpack wants to join in. Pull out a purple backpack like in Dora the Explorer. Before the party place inside the backpack, various Dora toys like puzzles, coloring books, crayons, bubbles, small beanie animals and bouncy balls. Start the song again, reach inside the backpack, and show the children the prize you found. Tell the children not to look when reaching into the backpack. Pass the backpack around the circle until everyone has picked a prize.

    Swiper Hunt

    • Swiper the fox is a crafty thief on Dora the Explorer. Organize a treasure hunt of the missing items Swiper has stolen from Dora. Purchase card stock, a Swiper the fox plush animal and various Dora items like stickers, balloons, hair ties, small plastic animals and chalk. Hide these items throughout the party room. Write on the card stock clues and directions to find the missing Dora items. Pair the child with her parent if she is young. The toddler who finds the highest number of missing items wins the plush Swiper toy.

    Hide and Seek

    • Dora is constantly finding different objects or animals on her TV show, "Dora the Explorer." This is a fitting traditional party game; modify it to match the Dora party theme. Dora and Boots, her monkey best friend, love to play hide and seek. Before the party, make monkey ear headbands out of grayish blue headbands and grayish blue felt. Cut out several pairs of monkey ears from the felt and attach to the headbands with a hot glue gun. Pass out the monkey headbands to all the participants except one. This player will be Dora. Once Dora finds all the monkeys, Dora picks a replacement and the game starts over.
