To Get God"s Help Be Like the Coffee and Not the Cup
The cup and the coffee When you heat up a cup of coffee in a microwave the coffee gets so hot it can burn your hand, some how the coffee gets stirred and becomes very hot.
Then you have to be careful when you take it out of the microwave or you will burn yourself.
In order to take it out of the microwave you take hold of the cup handle that stays cool and lift it out.
Both the cup and the coffee are in the same microwave.
The coffee gets hot but the cup doesn't.
Sometimes we're the coffee and sometimes we're the cup A couple of weeks ago my pastor preached a great message on the authority of Jesus.
I felt enlightened and energized by his sermon.
I really got a lot out of it; it answered some questions for me and really turned me on spiritually.
On the way out the door I asked a friend what he thought of the sermon.
He said it was good, but I could tell he wasn't turned on the way I was by it.
That's not to say he didn't get anything from it, because I'm sure he did.
It just seemed like pastor was preaching just for me.
I was the coffee and my friend was the cup for that sermon.
Last week at work a co-worker told a joke that I really didn't get or even think was funny, everyone else that heard it thought it was hilarious, as far as that joke was concerned I was the cup and everyone else was the coffee.
God's Kingdom works like that microwave.
Sometimes we receive from God and sometimes we don't.
If we're like the cup God can't do anything for us.
The cup just sits there.
If we're like the coffee and have faith in God's Word and confess it with our mouth He can move on our behalf and do things for us.
The cup cannot change itself.
Self-reform doesn't work.
We cannot change ourselves.
We cannot change our lives if we don't believe and confess the Word.
How do we use our faith and the Word to receive from God? God can help you when you come to him in faith and believe what he says in the Bible.
Tell Jesus your problems and what you need.
Then ask him to help you find a scripture that promises what you need.
There are thousands of promises in the Bible.
Take the time and look for your promise.
When you find it begin to confess it with your mouth, or say it out loud and listen to what you are saying, eventually it will "click" with you and you'll believe it with your heart.
Continue to stand in faith for your scripture and keep confessing it.
Eventually God will bring it to pass if you do not waver.
All of God's promises are yes and amen (2 Corinthians 1:20).
When you pray scripture the answer from God is always yes.
In closing Find your scripture then believe and confess it out loud to believe it in your heart.
Then continue to believe and confess it until it becomes a reality in your life.
So now you know how to be like the coffee.
God loves each and every one of us and is patiently waiting to stir the coffee by answering our prayers when we confess scripture.
Don't delay, find a scripture that promises what you need then believe it and confess it until it manifests in your life.
You can also confess the Word for others.
Why not start today? Prayer Dear Father, I want to be like the coffee.
I will believe and confess your Word.
Let me use my faith and your Word to receive all the things that I need from you.
When Jesus walked this earth he received from you Father God everyday.
I want to be like Jesus.
I ask this in Jesus' name.
Amen.
Confession I am a person that believes the Bible.
I use my faith and the Word to receive from God and also to intercede for others.
I live by faith everyday.
I confess this in Jesus' name.
