Bedding Basics

• Bedding such as fluffy comforters, pillows and blankets are fun and cute; however, these items don't belong in a crib if your baby is under one year old. Bedding for your baby boy also needs to be non-flammable, easily washed and simple to care for. Before you buy, check for loose or missing pieces, wobbly legs or sides that may easily come down when pushed on a bed. The poles on the crib need to be spaced close together to prevent your baby's head from squeezing through. As your baby boy grows older, he'll get more active and even try to climb out of his crib, so be sure the bed is sturdy and fall-proof.
  
  

Classic Bedding Styles

• Choosing a style for your baby boy's bedding often means choosing something that reflects your own style. If you prefer classic rather than contemporary designs, you might choose Disney characters, sports, dinosaurs, airplanes, space ships, teddy bears, clowns or Sesame Street characters. You might also use the latest superhero such as Batman or Spider Man or even a pirates theme for your baby boy's bedding. If you prefer the classic look, you may also like shades of blue in your baby boy's room. Purchase blue comforters, blue mobiles and blue pillows for the rocker in the same shades as your baby boy's bedding. Many stores offer rugs that coordinate with the baby bedding as well.
  
  

Contemporary Bedding Styles

• Contemporary bedding for a baby boy may include themes relating to the latest trend, or colors that blend together as an abstract piece of artwork. These can include Wild West decorations or animal prints such as cows, horses, tigers or dogs. Checkered or striped bedding also provides a contemporary look. Or maybe you'd prefer a funky theme such as tie dye or mosaic designs. Coordinate your baby boy bedding materials with wall hangings, clocks, piggy banks, books and even lampshades that continue the theme.
