How to Do Peel-and-Stick Tiles for a Backsplash
- 1). Measure the backsplash area where you plan on installing the peel-and-stick tiles. Create a duplicate layout area nearby on the floor. Place your peel-and-stick tiles on the floor in this area to decide your final layout. Begin each section of the backsplash layout in the bottom center and move outward to achieve the most balanced look.
- 2). Cut the tiles into the shape you want, and to fit the installation of the backsplash, on a vinyl tile cutter. Use the cutter like a paper cutter to make clean, straight cuts in the vinyl. Use a razor blade to carefully remove sections of tile to accommodate outlets.
- 3). Peel the backing off the tiles and press them onto the wall where you want them installed. Take your time and line up the tiles properly, beginning at the bottom against the counter and working up to create straight lines. Follow the template you made on the floor to get the look you desire.
- 4). Use a rolling pin to press the peel-and-stick tiles onto the wall firmly. The adhesive in vinyl tiles never dries out, so you will need pressure to help it adhere permanently to the space. Lean your weight into the roller to get as much pressure on the tiles as possible.
