The Sciatica Test is Positive, now what do you do?

So now you know, it is official. You have sciatica. It is not really fun or fair, but now it is here.

And you are about to start your journey. Your journey to finding relief from this nasty pain. You will start talking with your doctor about treatment options and medications.

But you are in pain now, and finding what treatment options or medications work for you takes time.

So what should you be doing for relief while you are looking for your treatment?

1 - Bromelain Supplements - an enzyme found in pineapples, Bromelain is really helpful when dealing with sciatic nerve pain. When you are in pain, it is usually because the muscles around your nerve are inflamed. Bromelain keeps the muscles from getting inflamed.

2 - Stretch your lower back - stretching the lower back muscles helps to keep them loose. When the muscles in the lower back are tense, they irritate the sciatica nerve, which will cause a flare. There are many easy stretches that you can do for every day to keep your pain away.

Here is one stretch you should do if you are in pain:

* lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet on the floor
* put one leg over the opposite bent knee
* pull the knee that is on the floor up towards your body. This creates a deep stretch in your lower back
* change legs and repeat

3 - Avoid foods that cause Inflammation - most people don't realize that the foods they eat can actually inflame their muscles. It may not have been a big deal for you before, but now that you have sciatic nerve pain, the slightest muscle inflammation can cause big problems for you. You want to eat mostly anti-inflammatory foods. Do a google search for 'anti-inflammatory foods' or 'alkaline foods', and create a foods list based on what food options you like. Keep that food list handy at all times.

You have done the right thing, the first part is taking the sciatica test and learning what is going on. Now you have a starting point to finding relief.

I know you are probably in a lot of pain, but the good news about sciatic pain is that there are many ways to manage it.
