How to Paint a Brick Effect
- 1). Roll a coat of mortar-color paint onto the wall using a paint roller. Allow the paint to dry at least four hours.
- 2). Stencil on the brick pattern using a brick stencil, a stencil brush and the brick-colored paint. Start at one end and work your way across in rows using the brick stencil. Allow the paint to dry at least four hours after you have completed the brick stenciling.
- 3). Pour brown or black paint into a paint tray. Mix 1 part paint to 4 parts glazing medium in the tray.
- 4). Dab the surface of the bricks with a sponge that has been dampened with the glazing mix. This will create depth and texture to the bricks for a more realistic result. Apply this technique until you are satisfied with the overall effect. Allow the paint treatment to dry for 72 hours before placing anything on the wall.
