Watering System for Indoor Plants
- 1). Place the potted plant into a larger ceramic pot, glazed inside and out for best results. The potted plant should slide in easily, but the smaller pot's rim should catch the rim of the ceramic pot. The plant should then be suspended about 4 inches above the ceramic pot's bottom.
- 2). Remove the potted plant from the ceramic pot. Add 4 inches of room temperature water to the bottom.
- 3). Cut about 6 inches of woven oil lamp wick. The wick must be clean and unused. Using a screwdriver, push one end of the wick through the drain hole and into the soil. About 4 inches of the wick should hang down from the bottom of the potted plant.
- 4). Place the potted plant back into the ceramic pot. The last inch of the wick should be suspended in the water. The wick will pull water up to your plant, regulating soil moisture. Change the water in the ceramic pot about once a week.
