How to Put Slats in a Chain Link Fence
- 1). Slide the vinyl slat down through the top of the chain link fence so the locking notch is at the top of the fence. Make sure the slat slides right into the column of open links formed by the chain link mesh. The slat will slide directly down into this column naturally. Do not weave the slat between the chain link mesh.
- 2). Slide the slat all the way to the bottom of the fence, and then continue to install slats until you have completed one section of fence. Make sure all the notches in the top of the fence slat are aligned horizontally.
- 3). Thread the locking slat (a long vinyl piece that is thinner than the fence slats and has an arrow pointed end) through the notches in the fence slats along the top row of the chain link fence. This piece must pass through each slat, locking into position.
- 4). Continue to install the vertical slats and locking slat pieces as necessary to complete your installation.
