DIY: Mounting a Map With Foam Board
- Begin your project by obtaining and assembling your map and materials. You will need a piece of foam board that is at least as large as the map you want to display. If you have a particularly large map, you may need to buy more than one foam board and tape them together before adhering the map. If the foam board is larger than your map, carefully cut the foam board with a craft knife until it is the same size. Wipe the foam board with a dry cloth to make sure it's free of dust. Then, apply a spray adhesive according to the manufacturer's instructions. Apply an even coat and stand back far enough to avoid breathing in fumes.
Next, lay the map on the foam board a little at a time. Line up one edge of the map with the edge of the foam board and gradually lay the rest until all of the edges line up, smoothing out any bubbles and wrinkles as you go. Drying time may vary by brand of adhesive, so check the packaging and let your map dry. Once dry, your map is complete and ready for your presentation.
