Spending some quality time with a date in an open-air location that you may or may not know yourself, such as a forest or national park, can be quite romantic and is ideal for spending real quality time in one another's company.

• Picnics are a great way to spend some quality one-on-one time with a person. Packing some unique, handmade foods can provide some conversation material for the date, and a bottle of wine will round off the date nicely (or take it to the next level). You might try the tried and true method of preparing a picnic hamper beforehand and storing it nearby to surprise them at a later time. The location is also important: sit near a tree in order to take advantage of the shade on hot sunny days, near a lake or river for the background sound of running water, or on a hill with a view of the surrounding countryside.
