    Enabling Multiple Processors or Cores with Windows Vista or 7

    • 1). Click "Start." Type "msconfig" in the Search box. This will open the System Configuration window.

    • 2). Click the "Boot" tab. Click "Advanced Options." The Boot options menu should appear.

    • 3). Click the check box next to "Number of Processor."

    • 4). Use the drop-down box to highlight the number of processors or cores you want to enable.

    • 5). Click "OK." Restart the computer.

    Enabling Multiple Processors or Cores with Windows XP

    • 1). Click on "Start." Click "Run." Type "msconfig" in the text box. This will start the System Configuration Utility.

    • 2). Click the "BOOT.INI" tab. Click "Advanced."

    • 3). Click the check box next to "/NUMPROC."

    • 4). Click the arrow next to the drop-down box to select the number of processors to enable.

    • 5). Click "OK." Restart the computer.
