How to Create an Easter Basket for a Female College Student
- 1). Think beyond Easter. Find a sturdy antique basket that can hold books in her apartment or dorm room, or a big hamper she can fill with tailgate picnic fare.
- 2). Line the basket with a quilt or lap throw in a pretty, springlike color.
- 3). Buy some decorative egg-shaped boxes, or splurge on some porcelain ones. Then fill them all with tiny gifts: jewelry, books of postage stamps, a travel clock, a small picture frame, tickets to a concert or play you know she'd like to see.
- 4). Build the basket around a theme. For instance, if she's a fine arts major, tuck in a sketchbook and drawing pencils, tubes of paint, and brushes or sculpture tools. If you know there's a major out-of-town museum or a blockbuster exhibit she's been dying to see, go all out and treat her to a weekend trip.
- 5). Pass along some family history. Write out some favorite recipes in a beautiful but kitchen-worthy book, make up a small album of old family photographs, or fill a porcelain egg with a small heirloom you've been meaning to give her.
- 6). Bake some of her favorite cookies and cut them into the shapes of eggs, bunnies, lambs and chicks. Then nestle them into the basket along with the handwritten recipe and a set of copper cookie cutters.
