    Sweatshirt

    • Find an over-sized sweatshirt in either gray or neon colors and remove the collar, wrist cuffs and bottom edge for an unfinished look. Lay out the sweatshirt on a flat working surface and neatly cut along the collar and cuff lines, taking care to cut through one layer of fabric at a time. Trim the bottom edge one layer at a time, as well, shortening the sweatshirt to the desired length. Gently pull on the unfinished edges and allow the fabric to naturally curl.

    Leg Warmers

    • Pair the sweatshirt with brightly colored leg warmers. Make your own using a pair of knee-high or thigh-high socks. Cut off the foot of each sock in a neat line along the ankle. Pull the remaining sock fabric over your calves and scrunch each down for a leg-warmer look.

    Big Hair

    • Purchase a curly wig in natural hair colors, if desired, to wear with your ’80s dancer costume. Or, curl your own hair with a curling iron or hot rollers. Tease the curls with a hairbrush and apply a liberal amount of hairspray.

    Finishing Touches

    • Wear a leotard or a black bathing suit under the sweatshirt. Arrange the sweatshirt, Choose black tights or spandex leggings to wear underneath the leg warmers. Select a pair of pointy-toed high heels to complete the ensemble.
