Kouzzina by Cat Cora
Located at Disney's BoardWalk ,Kouzzina, the latest addition to the line-up of Disney resort restaurants, celebrates the Greek roots of Food Network star and Iron Chef, Cat Cora. Just as the kouzzina (kitchen) is the heart of the Greek home, the heart of the restaurant is the open kitchen where guests can watch the chefs cook on a wood-burning grill and oak-fired ovens. This family friendly restaurant features time-honored traditional Greek and contemporary Mediterranean cuisine, with many of the recipes having been passed down through Cora's family.
Ambiance:
As guests enter the restaurant, there is no doubt as to the driving force behind its conception. Cora's cookbooks, Cooking From the Hip and Cat Cora's Kitchen, and her new signature wine collection Coranation Wines are displayed along the back wall of the entry. Adding to the welcome are Cora family photos lining the entry walls....and since it is a Disney facility, look for the hidden Mickey in an alcove off the entry.
The Greek Taverna theme of the dining room is evident with Mediterranean style dark woods and iron scrollwork accents.
Menu:
Open for breakfast and dinner, Kouzzina has two different menus.
Many standard breakfast favorites, like waffles, french toast and bacon and eggs, are available. For the more adventurous eater, the menu includes breakfast with a Greek touch with selections such as spinach, tomato and feta scrambled eggs or the stacked Kouzzina breakfast of two poached eggs, kalamata olive toast, artichoke spread and sweet potato hash, bacon or chicken sausage.
Entrees feature many mouth-watering Greek favorites...slow-cooked lamb shanks, cinnamon stewed chicken, fishermans's stew and pastitsio, to name but a few. If you still have room after feasting on these Mediterranean delights, the dessert menu offers the traditional sweet endings like Baklava (a walnut and honey-drenched pastry), Loukoumades ( Greek doughnuts), and Greek-style yogurt sorbet.
The dinner menu offers a full selection of Greek specialties, starting with appetizers and ending with desserts. To start off, diners might want to sample the dolmades(stuffed grape leaves) or spanakopita (phyllo pie with spinach, feta, leeks and dill) ...and to wash them down, adults in the party might want to try Cat's Ouzo-tini or the Kouzzina-rita.
Wine:
To make the dining experience more special, Kouzzina offers four wine flight selections (three 2-ounce pours) from California and Greece, the "Cat Flight", the Greek Isles flight, California Fruit Bombs, and Blood of Bacchus. Also featured on the menu by the bottle or glass are Cat Cora's new line of Coranation Wines.
