- 1). Pour 1 cup of flour into a medium saucepan. Add 1 ½ cups of cold water. Mix the ingredients with a whisk until they are smooth, with no lumps of flour.
- 2). Stir in 1 ¼ cups of hot water. Put the pot on the stove and bring the mixture to a boil. Let it boil for five to 10 minutes, stirring frequently with a spoon until the mixture has thickened.
- 3). Remove the pan from the heat. Stir the ingredients again with a whisk until the mixture is smooth.
- 4). Add several drops of the desired color of food coloring and stir until you achieve the shade you want. Transfer the paint to an air-tight container and put it in the refrigerator for a few hours to cool. Keep it refrigerated in this same container when not in use.
- 1). Pour 7 cups of flour, 3 cups of salt and 3 tbsp. of cream of tartar into a large mixing bowl. Add ¼ cup of vegetable oil and 4 cups of hot water.
- 2). Knead the dough with your hands or with the dough hook of a stand-up mixer. Knead the dough for about five minutes if using a mixer or eight to 10 minutes if kneading by hand. Add a sprinkle of flour, as needed, to keep the dough soft and workable.
- 3). Add food coloring to the dough and knead again until the color is evenly distributed. If you want to make different colors of play dough, divide up the dough first, then add the desired color to each ball and knead.
- 4). Store the homemade play dough in an air-tight container.
- 1). Pour 1 cup of baby shampoo into a plastic bottle.
- 2). Add ¾ cup of water and 1 tsp. of glycerin. Secure the lid on the bottle and shake it up well.
- 3). Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, if you wish. Shake the bottle again after adding the essential oil.
- 1). Combine 2 tbsp. cornstarch, ¼ cup baking soda and 2 tbsp. citric acid into a bowl. Use a spoon to mix up the dry ingredients well.
- 2). Combine 3 tbsp. coconut, almond, avocado or apricot oil, ¼ tsp. of your favorite fragrance oil and 3 drops of your choice of food coloring into a separate bowl. Stir the ingredients well with a spoon.
- 3). Pour the oil mixture slowly into the dry mixture and stir them well. Lay a piece of waxed paper on the counter and form 1-inch balls with the mixture.
- 4). Let the balls rest on the waxed paper for three hours. Then put the balls into paper candy cups and let them harden for 24 to 48 hours before using. Store unused fizzies in an air-tight container.
